Gameday Thoughts: Lions at Seahawks

Gameday Thoughts: Lions at Seahawks

November 8th, 2009 | by detfan1979 |

I pretty much covered my feelings on how this game will go in the Lions Congregation this week. It sums up as two wildly inconsistent teams who both have the potential to blow out the other team if all phases “show up” today. IF all three phases (offense, defense, special teams) show up for both teams, or neither, then it will be a knock-down drag-out affair. No one will know til its over.

This will also be out first chance to see Aaron Curry in action. Many Lions Fans (myself included) wanted the Lions to draft Curry; however, thus far by all appearances, Levy and Curry have been playing about on par with each — only difference is that Curry was handed a starting job, while Levy has been battling with Sims. Curry has still been in impressive rookie, and playing well. Any team would be happy to have him.

Not taking Curry has been great for the Lions as they were able to strengthen the LB position via trade to acquire Julian Peterson, sign Larry Foote, AND took Levy in the third, while still picking up a franchise QB in Stafford — the Lions ended up looking good.

I was thinking of looking up what was going on with Cory Redding to try to evaluate how that whole trade was working out for both teams, an as ofright now it looks like the Lions got the best end of the deal – especially since they have been finding ways to get Peterson rushing the passer. One other note — apparently Gunther Cunningham agrees that as far as Peterson’s Roughing the Passer (grazing the passer? touching the passer?) penalty goes it is a bad rule, not a bad call.

Enjoy the game — post your thoughts both in game and post game here — Go Lions!! Stafford and CJ will both be playing so no excuses offense!
