Well, first drive of the game for Culpepper...he throws an INT! Kevin Smith got the start today and has had some good hard runs in the first half. Culpepper threw a 51 yard pass in the first quater to CJ right on the money. He's still got his arms and is definetly showing that he still has some of his mobility. They brought in Drew Stanton for 1st and he threw his first nfl TD!!! Havent seen him in the game since. Defense is getting run all over in this first half!!! As its been all season, THEY CANT TACKLE!!! At 2:00 min warning right now. Score- Jac-17--Det-7. Oh Dewayne White got hurt early in the first, Avril been gettin most of the playing time and has looked really good. I will type more when the game is over.

Well, second half didnt go much better than most of the first. Defense just let Jacksonville do whatever they wanted to for the most part. Kevin Smith still got majority of the carries in the second half too. Stanton got all the snaps in the 4TH quarter. Had one good looking run there at the end of the game but Rudi had a holding call that brought it back. I think Rudi say the field for maybe 5-10 plays today. Can't figure out why they took Kevin out. Kevin got another TD today and then Rod called for the onside kick and we recovered. Just nothing we could do, every time Stanton dropped back to survey the field, there were Jacksonville defenders all over him. Stanton did look REALLY winded towards the end of the game...I guess he found out how fast the game moves!! final

Jac-38 Det-14

Maybe Stanton will get the start next week but who knows....Rod will probably stick with Culpepper cause he looked better in practice. Not that good of a game to watch! MJD Ran for 3 tds and I believe Taylor got at least one. Oh well, We have next year!!!

Interesting food for thought:

Link to my debate with Jreffy about starting Stanton in Week 2 from this blog.

Jreffy where have you been? I haven't seen you much since then, I wanted to hear your opinion or hear you admit you and the coaching staff have been wrong and btw Brady Quinn is starting now. I think we got in a bit of a debate about that as well and you also said I was nuts and couldn’t evaluate talent. Well both teams have given the youngsters some playing time and it looks just like I thought. Although the both of them are inexperienced they both showed signs of being able to play in this league better then the Veterans that had been in front of them.

Link to my reply on Birketts blog on 11/06/08 right after we signed CPep and I went on and on about our offense and defense, it is my opinion but I think good reading…

It isn’t looking very good for Rod and Company…

Take a shit on the floor, wiggle it around for approximately three hours, and you have the Detroit Lions defense. The defensive line was horrible, but lost deVries and White. The offensive line was offensive. Culpepper danced up and around in the pocket and didn't look horrible. Stanton played in the fourth and had good numbers (plus a 3yd TD pass on a goalline play in the 1st), but held the ball a little too much. A little indecisive. Smith almost had a 100 yd rushing day.
