Due to various personal/health issues, I will be taking a hiatus from the DetFan1979 Blog until June 1, 2009. I look forward to coming back strong with regular postings at that time. If you would like to post a guest blog in the interim, email me and I will try to post it up.
Thanks for your understanding!!
See you in June. Go Lions!!

No problem....I guess we will have to suffer through the Red Wings playoff run....now THERE's a thought: Enjoy the absolute best franchise in sports for a while....Let's all go post in the MLive Red Wings forum and chase out the "first" morons!

I'm going to keep posting here because I like it so much. Just wanted to share a little bit of interesting news.
NFL network reported today that Roderick Hood, CB Ari, is going to be visiting a few teams including the Lions, early next week. He's a 7 year vet that's had some good seasons but was injured last year, though he didn't get hurt until towards the end of the season and his stats were down. Still, it's another possible acquisition.
NFL also announced a major salary cap surge of 12 million dollars; that's 5 mil more than was expected this year. The extra 5 mil means more cap space for the lions to pick even more bodies up off the waiver wire; though it probably means that they will be LESS likely to land free agents. every NFL team will have money to blow and will overspend on what free agent talent is left out there; Which the Lions have shown they are unwilling to do: pay a guy more than his contribution on the field is worth.
It's going to be an interesting week or so in Free Agency thanks to the cap increase, but I don't see the Lions as being a major player in it.
Thanks for all the great thoughts guys! Nothing life threatening, just need time to recover, and then catch my breath, so to speak, on the real world.
Its all good!! We might go nuts not getting "THE GOOD STUFF" from you while your away but, we will find a way to survive!!!! (I HOPE) Take care and see you soon!

It gets interesting when clicking on the option "All Years."
Enjoy, have fun, get well, and last but not least, Go Lions.
Here is an interesting article from http://adamjt13.blogspot.com/
on what Stafford's contract really means to the Lion's salary cap. A quick summary of what is actual guanrenteed minimum contrat is. "The actual amount he's absolutely guaranteed to receive under any circumstances is a mere $17.05 million."
He also does a very good job breaking down his contract, as well as clearing up the salary cap with rookies, and other free agents who are not the top 51 paid players on the team.
Good stuff.
Josh. Wish your family well whether it is you or your wife is that has the health issue.

Hope all is well, and hope to see you soon!
